Impact of Millie’s Mark – Dollymixtures Nursery

Just before Christmas we had a three-year-old who had attended the doctor for a routine flu jab. She came back to nursery afterwards and her temperature kept rising. After 30 minutes she was having a fit.

Most of the staff handled the situation with confidence, but one member of the team floundered under the pressure and told her manager that she did not feel as confident as she should.

We sent out a quick quiz about how to deal with a child who are having a fit and discussed the results and issues raised at the next meeting. Staff felt that this type of review consolidated their own experiences and knowledge.

This has encouraged the team to discuss different types of incidents at every meeting. They also enjoyed the  quiz that was specific and became more involved in reviewing the accident tracker we now have in place.
